The dedication of the winery to xinomavro is an indication of its commitment to highlight the unique terroir of Amyntaion. The coop has expanded its range to include other varieties like Rhoditis, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer.

The history of the winery is connected to the history of the region. The cooperative was founded at the end of the 1940’s and the winery in 1959, making it the first in the region. Through time the cooperative played a vital role in the support of local grape growers and the promotion of the unique wines of Amyntaion. The winery has also gone through considerable renovations for the modernization of its facilities allowing for the continuous production of high quality wines, while honoring its rich history.

The commitment of the cooperative for sustainability and quality is obvious in its ownership and managerial structure. In 2012, the winery’s ownership passed to the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Amyntaion (ASEPA) and is run by the board of the ASEPA Grape Growers. This structure ensures that the winery will continue to operate in a way that is beneficial to the local community and the environment and produces quality wines.

Apart from the production of exceptional wines, the winery has contributed greatly to the recognition of the region. The VQPRD classification (today Protected Designation of Origin) for the red, still and sparkling rosé wine was awarder officially in 1972 and is still to this day the only PDO rosé in Greece. This recognition is proof of the winery’s commitment in producing great wines and places Amyntaion among the great wine regions of the world.

At the Amyntas Winery a group of people form a team in which each member contributes with their abilities and passion for the production of wines. The older people bring their experience and knowledge, acquired through their long years of working with the vines and the wine. The younger, bring fresh potential and innovative ideas, enthusiasm and the will to experiment and embrace new technologies making sure that the winery remains contemporary and produces wines that can also appeal to modern consumers.
