Near the picturesque village of Lefkimmi in southern Corfu lies Pontiglio Winery.
Its name comes from a Venetian word meaning persistent or stubborn, perfectly reflecting the spirit of Babis Kouris and Konstantina Ntini, who with dedication and determination cultivate and vinify the local grape varieties Kakotrygis and Skopelitiko.
The family-owned, pre-phylloxera vineyard of 6 hectares is gradually being expanded through the revival of old vineyards rescued from abandonment. The small winery combines traditional and modern techniques, offering a fresh approach to Corfiot winemaking heritage.

Pontiglio Winery is located in Lefkimmi, in southern Corfu, and is a modern, family-run winery, deeply rooted in local tradition. Founded in 2014, it was created with the aim of preserving and revitalizing the Corfiot vineyard at a time when many indigenous grape varieties were at risk of disappearing. Its name, meaning determination, perfectly reflects the philosophy and vision of the people behind it: respect for the land, commitment to quality, and belief in authenticity.

Pontiglio focuses on the cultivation and vinification of rare, native Corfiot grape varieties such as Kakotrygis and Skopelitiko, applying gentle and sustainable practices. Each wine expresses the island’s unique microclimate and terroir, combining traditional knowledge with contemporary winemaking techniques.

Beyond wine production, the winery is also a place of culture and experience. Visitors can explore the vineyards and the traditional winemaking museum, gain insight into the production process, and enjoy tastings that highlight the distinct character of Corfu’s wines. Pontiglio Winery aims to play an active role in shaping the modern identity of Corfiot wine, offering an authentic experience that connects nature, history, and wine.
